A Little Help for Downtown

A Little Help for Downtow…

In these times, the depth of our human spirit is on full display. Across the country, people are reaching out in a variety of ways to support their neighbors. And that kindness and generosity can even be found in our own backyard.

Despite the hardships faced by many small businesses, it is the local shops of Downtown Farmington that have continued to be the heart of our community. They have donated meals to first responders and health care workers. Loaves of bread have been provided to area shelters. Time is being spent producing masks for those in need. These local outfits are working tirelessly to give a helping hand to our neighborhood.

Now, we can give back to the small businesses that are the backbone of Downtown Farmington. The Farmington Downtown Development Authority (DDA) has introduced a crowdfunding drive to support those businesses affected by the pandemic. Funds raised through Patronicity, a platform that uses both crowdfunding and sponsored grant dollars, will help pay for personal protective equipment (PPE) and other costs incurred by the establishments as they comply with new safety guidelines in order to reopen. Main Street Oakland County will match donations dollar for dollar up to $4,000.

If you are able, please consider supporting the small businesses of Downtown Farmington as they prepare to open up their doors again. We look forward to a time when we can visit these shops again!
