When everything changed last year, many felt motivated to do more to support the people in their community who were struggling, especially those facing food insecurity. It was out of that desire to help that Lasagna Love was born.
Lasagna Love began last May when a San Diego mom wanted to bring comfort and ease the burden for her neighbors in a time of uncertainty. She began delivering homemade lasagnas to local families who needed a warm meal. Today, the grassroots movement is supported by more than 20,000 volunteers who have cooked and delivered over 45,000 lasagnas to neighbors nationwide.
During these difficult times, Lauren Woirol has been looking for any opportunity to make things a little easier for people in the community and recently discovered Lasagna Love. She was quickly matched with a local family and was able to provide a homecooked meal to a single mother of four. As someone who enjoys cooking for her own loved ones, Lauren is looking forward to helping more families with a simple lasagna pan.
On the Lasagna Love website, prospective volunteers can sign up to get involved. Families can also request a meal or nominate a family for a meal online.
