Like many college campuses across the country, Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa will be largely shuttered with students attending classes online. Anxious to study with classmates and friends, Grinnell juniors Merel Timmermans and Anika Jane Beamer flew from Detroit to Colorado on Monday. After a few days in Denver, they will drive west to join eleven classmates in a house rented in the mountains near Eden, Utah.
A resident of Los Angeles with an interest in Immigration Law, Merel spent the past five weeks interning with Wright Beamer in metro Detroit. She proved to be a quick study, assisting with legal research and drafting in multiple areas. She also experienced the “less glamorous” side of an internship, converting reams of old paper files to digital, a task all too familiar to Anika Jane who provided similar assistance in summers past.
Both women look forward to a return to the (virtual) classroom and a return to the (non virtual) company of friends. Good luck Merel and Anika Jane!
