If you’re passing through Elkhart County, Indiana this week, you might just pass by one of the nation’s largest 4-H county fairs! Last year’s fair hosted more than 196,000 people throughout the nine-day event! And the Fair Board strives to not only put on the biggest fair but also the best through its “quality family entertainment, free grandstand shows, positive competitions and terrific fair food.”
Among the crowd, you’ll find Heather Brenneman Miles and her family. Having grown up on a dairy farm, which currently runs as a full-blown operation including custom harvesting and cattle raising, Heather is no stranger to 4-H, its fair or the hard work it means to be involved. With her nieces and nephews having steers, pigs and rabbits to show and two nephews participating with tractor driving and maintenance club, there is no shortage of tasks to be done. You can be sure that the mornings are early as the entire Brenneman family takes care of the animals and prepares for the day.
We're looking forward to seeing what awards this dedicated family will take home this year! The first ribbon has already been presented to Heather’s niece, Gracie, as she won Champion Senior Showman for the Dairy Feeder Calf Club! Well done, Gracie!
