Things to Know (About Our Friends!): Sew Loved, Inc.

Things to Know (About Our…

When Vicki Miles (mother-in-law to Heather Miles) retired from the telecom billing company she had started, she felt a pull to find a way to continue supporting her community. In 2012, Vicki established Sew Loved, Inc., a nonprofit based in South Bend, Indiana. According to its Facebook page, the organization’s mission is to “provide a positive hands-on program for women and teen girls to learn and practice a variety of life-enhancing skills, such as perseverance, patience and problem solving.” Through Sew Loved, women and teen girls learn valuable skills like sewing and quilting while giving back to their community.

Because of the Coronavirus pandemic, Sew Loved has had to close its facility. But Vicki Miles has again felt the pull to find a way to continue supporting her community. The nonprofit and its network of sewing partners are hard at work producing thousands of washable and reusable face masks for medical personnel, first responders, and essential workers. Sew Loved donated its first 500 mask covers and custom masks to Beacon Health Systems in South Bend!

More information about Sew Loved and its mask mission can be found on its website. We are so moved by all of the people and all of the businesses doing their part for their neighbors during these times.
