Waste Not

Farmington Hills is partnering with Make Food Not Waste, a Detroit-based nonprofit, to create a citywide plan to reduce food waste. And they’re asking for input from residents and local businesses.

Two surveys are now open through tomorrow, July 25: one for community members and one for food and beverage businesses. The goal is to better understand how food waste is currently handled, raise awareness, and explore interest in new programs, like composting.

Why does it matter? Michigan wastes over 2 billion pounds of food each year. Most of that comes from households, with the average person spending more than $750 annually on food that ends up in the trash.

By taking a few minutes to share your thoughts, you’ll help shape the City’s efforts to build a more sustainable future right here in our community.

At Wright Beamer, we value initiatives that make our community stronger. You can visit the City of Farmington Hills website to learn more and to take the survey.
