Work of Art

In the bustling heart of Farmington, creativity soon takes center stage!

Art on the Grand kicks off next weekend, June 1 and June 2. City streets along Grand River Avenue will be closed to traffic, making space for festival visitors to stroll the promenade of artists, crafters, and vendors.

Art on the Grand offers a distinctive occasion for locals to purchase one-of-a-kind artwork from smaller creators. Organizers expect over 100 artists to show their work during this year’s event. The collection will feature “an array of high-quality art in a variety of price ranges and disciplines including ceramics, jewelry, painting, photography, wood, wearable art, glass, leather and sculpture.”

Over at Kids Art Alley, artwork from students in grades 5 through 12 will also be on display, with the younger artists on-site to discuss and sell their own pieces. Kids crafts and activities and a play area can also be found there.

To top it off, the second annual Farmington Author & Book Festival takes place on Saturday during Art on the Grand. It features more than 50 Michigan authors and publishers and includes author readings, book signings, discussions, and workshops, as well as a book marketplace!

Art on the Grand can be found between Farmington Road and Grove Street, and the Farmington Author & Book Festival will be set up in Memorial Park near the Masonic Hall. Our friends at the Farmington Farmers Market are open as well on Saturday in their usual spot.

We are looking forward to an incredible weekend celebrating art, community, and culture!
