Grateful Plateful

As cooler weather settles in, many of us look forward to gathering around the table with family and friends. For some in our community, though, the comfort of a full plate isn’t guaranteed. That’s where CARES of Farmington Hills steps in, working each week to ensure neighbors facing food insecurity have access to healthy, reliable meals.

This season, CARES is preparing for the Grateful Plateful Dinner on October 16, which will officially launch the Grateful Plateful Campaign, running through January 15, 2026. The campaign is built on a simple but powerful idea: when we share a meal, we strengthen our community. Contributions will help CARES continue providing food assistance for local families, especially as the colder months bring growing needs. The dinner will bring neighbors, partners, and supporters together to celebrate progress and look ahead at the work still to come.

Behind the scenes, CARES has been making strides in daily operations. A new Tuesday delivery from Gleaners means fresher produce for guests, and volunteer support keeps distribution running smoothly. Partnerships are expanding too, with plans to host student interns who will help measure community impact and explore how digital storytelling can raise awareness about suburban hunger.

CARES is also supporting other local efforts to meet critical needs. Fresh milk is one of the most requested items at food pantries, and right now Busch’s is helping make sure families have it. Through October 5, Busch’s is hosting its Fall Milk Drive. Last spring, more than 51,000 gallons were provided to families in need; this fall, the goal is even bigger—52,500 gallons. Thanks to Michigan dairy farmers, every donation will be matched up to $10,000.

Wright Beamer is honored to sponsor this year’s Grateful Plateful Dinner and to support the important work of local organizations like CARES and their partners. Together, they are making sure families across our area have not just meals, but the resources they need to face each season with confidence.
