As the days get longer and warmer, we find ourselves drawn to the outdoors, finding ways to spend our time in the sunshine. This month, the Farmington Area Optimists Club will cultivate a love of the outdoors for the youngest members of our community hosting its eighth annual Kids Fishing Day.
Kids – with the help of their parents – will enjoy a day of self-guided catch-and-release fishing. Supplies will be available to each child who is pre-registered, including a high-quality rod and reel, stocked tackle box, informational activity packet, fun how-to video links, and live bait. Families can choose any local fishing hole to spend the day practicing fishing techniques. A list of suggestions and a map will also be included!
Of course, modifications will be made this year to keep everyone safe. Sessions will be staggered, with 20 children per session. Fishing supplies can be picked up curbside at the Nature Center parking lot in Heritage Park. Visit the Farmington Area Optimists Club’s website to learn more about this outing.
Wright Beamer has long supported the Farmington Area Optimists Club and its mission. We are pleased to see that some things – even small things – can remain the same in the midst of so much change.
