At the end of the year, you can count on dedicated organizations and individuals within our community coming together to provide a lift for our neighbors in need during the holiday season. The Farmington Area Goodfellows is one local organization hard at work to provide that support.
Although the Goodfellows’ warehouse is only open for a few weeks during the Christmas season, the organization assists more than 400 children, families, and seniors in the local community. After the holidays and throughout the year, the organization collects canned and boxed foods, paper products, and personal care items for the Neighborhood House food pantry.
The warehouse location changes each year based on the availability of a vacant building, but Goodfellows always opens on the Monday after Thanksgiving and works tirelessly collecting canned or boxed non-perishable foods, diapers, new books, and toys. Cash donations are used to purchase grocery store and department store gift cards. On December 16, volunteers will gather to deliver donation boxes to hundreds of children, seniors, and developmentally disabled adults in the greater Farmington area who are in need of assistance. (Check the website if you want to help with the delivery.)
This year, the Farmington Civic Theater will also be hosting a movie day to support the Goodfellows’ mission. On December 2, stop by the theater for a free, family-friendly movie with the donation of non-perishable food items, a new and unwrapped toy, or a cash contribution.
Wright Beamer understands the importance of every organization promoting the common good in our community.
