Assumed Names the New-Fashioned Way

The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs has been hard at work updating its processes. There is more to come, but its latest announcement is that corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships can now renew assumed names online.

Just last month, the Department started sending out “how-to” postcards for the online renewal of assumed names set to expire this December. Renewals can still be submitted by mail, through MICH-ELF or in person, but we anticipate that renewals online will rapidly outpace these other methods.

You can pay for online renewals using Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card, and you can view your Certificate of Renewal of Assumed Name and new expiration date within 48 hours of filing at the Department’s website.

If you need any assistance in renewing an assumed name, we would be pleased to help. Please call our office at (248) 477-6300.
