One Step at a Time

One Step at a Time

Once a year, Patty Calvillo laces up her sneakers for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. She is driven by the memory of her mother.

The months leading up to the big day are spent reaching out to various friends and family in order to garner team sponsorships. Every dollar raised goes to help support the work of the Alzheimer’s Association. Most of the organization’s funding comes from annual walks held in 600 communities across the country.

Last week, our longtime friend, Patty, was recognized as “Community Champion.” Since first getting involved, Patty has helped to raise more than $32,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association!

It is estimated that more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's. It is the most common cause of dementia, according to the Alzheimer’s Association website, making their work so important. The Alzheimer’s Association is dedicated not only to global research and disease advocacy, but also to the care and support of those affected by the disease through programs, services, education, and research.

We have always been moved by Patty’s story, and we are incredibly proud of her efforts for this cause. Learn more about the 2022 Detroit Walk to End Alzheimer’s or see how you can help on the event page.
