The Farmington Farmers Market has long partnered with CARES of Farmington Hills as a part of its mission of providing direct access to fresh locally grown produce to everyone. CARES offers assistance to the community with food and clothing, as well as access to job education and training and other local support services.

On October 15, the market will expand that support on its annual Share the Harvest Day. Farmers and vendors donate food and dry goods to CARES, which goes to the organization’s pantry. Over 400 families are served by the CARES food pantry each month. The yearly collection helps to bring even more fresh fruits and vegetables and other everyday necessities to the families in our community that need it most.

This year, the Farmington Farmers Market is going a step further. Shoppers are being encouraged to join in by contributing non-perishable food items, including those purchased at the market.

We are proud of the work by both of these organizations, and we are glad to support their efforts for the betterment of our community. Visit the Farmington Farmers Market next Saturday to be a part of the good.
