If there is one thing that announces the coming of summer, it is most definitely opening day of the Farmington Farmers Market. And while the usual hustle and bustle of the market has been replaced by precautions and distance, a hint of the former traditions still exist for Saturdays in Farmington.
Things will look different as we all make the best of current conditions, but the staff and volunteers are doing everything possible to make the market as enjoyable as ever. Customers can pre-order from vendors online and pre-packaged items are available as attendees stroll through the market. Hand-washing stations are available throughout the area. And everything will be a little more colorful as the market will begin selling flowers and bedding plants, starting with a “Mini Flower Day” on May 23.
This past weekend, the bell rang again, marking the start of the farmers market. For another year, Dirk Beamer was asked to give opening remarks for the ceremony, and our newest team member, Mary Martin, served as a volunteer. While it may be different, the nostalgia of a market Saturday remains the same. We are honored to continue to sponsor and support the Farmington Farmers Market, now more than ever.
More information about the Farmington Farmers Market and its recent changes can be found online. We hope to see you out on a Saturday at the market!
