According to the Alzheimer’s Association website, it is estimated that 6 million people in the U.S. are living with Alzheimer’s and more than 11 million are providing unpaid care. This is why the organization is committed to the care, support, and research needed by the countless families facing dementia every day.
Each year, the Alzheimer’s Association organizes the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in more than 600 communities across the country. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s events serve as the world’s largest fundraiser for the fight against the disease. The Alzheimer’s Association uses these funds to provide face-to-face support and online education programs, as well as finance promising worldwide research programs.
The local Walk to End Alzheimer’s will again take place at the Detroit Zoo with appropriate protocols and safety measures in place. For those who want to participate but can’t make it to the zoo, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s mobile app allows walkers to take part within their own communities.
For several years now, our longtime friend, Patty Calvillo, has championed the cause in memory of her mother. We are honored to support her team again for this weekend’s event. You can learn more about the Detroit Walk to End Alzheimer’s online as we work together for our community.
